I'm certain there's clauses on the contracts signed between Denuvo and those companies, safeguarding some of those scenarios. However, that doesn't seem to be the case with the latest games, therefore that argument wears off.

It's mine, I've paid for it, I should be able to install it wherever I want. As I can say for sure, I refuse to pay for a game that doesn't allow me to install said game on how many machines I want. I surely made an informed decision before buying any of the games I own. For that reason I don't think that's a valid argument. Now, we pretty much know what kind of DRM a game uses and what limitations it has. I don't think it's worth, nor profitable, holding to it past that time. Personally, If I was a dev with a game using Denuvo, I'd remove it 6 months after launch. They have to protect their products and this is all a business after all. I understand the usage of DRM by the developers.

However we still have a major percentage that only plays if it's cracked and refuses to pay for a game, even if it's on sale, it's a good game and has no DRM whatsoever. If a smaller percentage plays cracked games to see how those games will behave on their rigs, or to see if they really like it, and there's no demo/CB/OB available, it's fine and perfectly understandable imo. However the vast majority is not like this, and because of that, we must do Moses work here. You're one particular case, as I am another. That is indefensible.ĭismissing a valid criticism as "false moralism" doesn't really work when I can point to over £800-worth of games that I could have torrented for free.

Pirates currently have access to a more easily-preserved version of that game than the people who paid for it.

Do you trust Ubisoft to offer up a DRM-free version of Watch Dogs 2? I know we'd like to think that they'd follow the example set by Inside and Doom, but they haven't, despite it already being cracked. Their activation servers vanish, leaving it up to publishers to remove it and allow players to access their games once more. Let's say that Denuvo is bankrupted by the end of the year because a newer, more effective system arises. We have past examples of DRM locking people out of legitimately-purchased games (GFWL), whereas I've never heard of anyone losing their car because the lock stopped working. Saying "I won't buy because it has a protection", is like saying I won't buy a car because it has an alarm and a door lock I pirated GTA 5 - understandable, I feel, after what we went through with GTA 4 - and now own it through Steam. I think I can trump that: my GOG library is at almost 450 games. I don't think I've spent more than €60 on all of this People would be better being quiet and doing as they please, instead of spitting bs with false moralism, as if they were seeking approval from strangers to validate their actions. Saying "I won't buy because it has a protection", is like saying I won't buy a car because it has an alarm and a door lock. I've also played a few pirated, such as WD2, Arkham Knight, Far Cry Primal and Motorsport Manager (which I plan on buying). I don't think I've spent more than €60 on all of this, and none of it was bought through grey markets ( I don't trust those).

I also lurk around and I can tell you, in the last 4 months I've purchased: Doom, F1 2016, Hitman, Feb Humble Bundle (Xcom2, Abzu, Ryse: Son of Rome, SteamWorld Heist, and a few others), Besiege, Victor Vran, Evoland 2, Deponia Doomsday and Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Obviously there's exceptions and not everyone exclusively seeks for free games in here.
